The on-off saga of the Aegean’s own phantom marina was finally confirmed as ON with the historic, and long overdue, contract signing between Dogus Holdings and the Treasury.
The handover of 115,000 m2 of Treasury land and 173,000m2 of sea to Dogus was originally held up after the construction company refused to pay up a final 140,000 YTL (£49.000) for the transfer process.
In return for not paying the outstanding sum, Dogus has agreed to own and manage the marina for 25 years before it is handed back to the Government. It is normal procedure for such facilities then to be rented back to the owners for an agreed sum.
The marina, which will also have a capacity for 300 yachts in dry dock, as well as a boat yard, is expected to completely rejuvenate the area between Third Beach and the Parliamentary sitesi. |
